It was a fitful night of sleep for me but with the room darkening drapes we managed to sleep until 8:30. Breakfast was light...just a muffin and a cup of coffee. I really wanted a second cup, but they were all out of regular. Decaf just wasn't going to work for me. π I don't know exactly what the problem was but apparently they had switched the coffee making procedure and something had not gone as planned. In that same vane, we were hearing stories of passengers without working toilets, no water or AC, phones not working and people who still hadn't gotten their luggage. We were fortunate that our cabin was fine in all aspects (the vibration from the previous night had stopped) but I think there were quite a few issues on the ship that could probably be blamed on the drydock.
We had noticed all of the new carpeting in the cabin and throughout the ship...not because it looked new but because it was covered in fuzz balls. It was going to take lots of vacuuming to keep ahead of that problem. Throughout the day there were crew on ladders with their heads in the ceiling working on wires or something.
After breakfast Bob and Danny walked on the promenade deck while I worked on my blog in the cabin.
At 10:00 the 3 of us went to the Cruise Critic Meet & Greet in the Crow's Nest. It was fun visiting and meeting others. It also gave Bob a chance to spread the word that he was looking for pickleball players!
Bob and I checked out Danny's cabin and then he & Stan came to ours to compare. The main difference was the bathroom...theirs had not been upgraded and still had a bathtub. Also theirs was a connecting cabin so the love seat was turned 90ΒΊ (compared to ours) to allow access to the door.

| The old-style hair dryer had been removed from our bathroom. |
Sunday brunch was being offered in the main dining room and the four of us decided to check it out. I had a smoothie, charcuterie, and poutine. Bob had a salmon-crab cake with a poached egg. Danny had carmel corn pancakes and Stan had bananas foster pancakes.

In the afternoon I went to the aft pool where I swam a bit and then enjoyed basking in the warm sun! While I was there, the Captain announced that he was going to do a "sudden deceleration test". This involved getting the ship to top speed and then suddenly putting on the brakes to see how long it would take the ship to stop. Everyone gathered at the stern to watch. When it was over, the Captain announced that all went well and the ship had passed the test...it was able to stop within 800 meters. He said the test must be performed once a year.
Being the first sea day, it was Gala Night in the dining room. We got fancied up and had a great dinner.
The menu was available each day on the Navigator App (actually just a webpage) that could be accessed for free using the ship's wifi (no account needed.) The Navigator also had access to shore excursions that could be booked, daily activities and your personal onboard account. It was a great way to check the menu in advance and ponder what you would order. π
Our service went quicker than it had the previous night so we were able to make it to the Captain's toast in the theater followed by the singing quartet, VOXX: The Urban Tenors. Champagne, soft drinks or orange juice was offered as we walked into the theater and the toast was short and sweet. I thought perhaps all of the officers would be introduced, but it was just the captain...Ane Jan Smit.
I was tired and not feeling 100% so we called it a night after the show. While I finished up my blog post, Bob watched part of the DVD movie "Hidden Figures" that he had checked out.
