(After you read through the daily blog posts from this trip, here are some videos that you might want to check out. These were uploaded two years later when I was trying to keep busy during the Covid pandemic!)
OK...back to the original post...
The day that seemed like it would never arrive was finally here! It was time to leave for our cruise to South America and Antarctica.
Heading south, even to Antarctica, seemed like a smart move given the frigid weather we were having in Minnesota. Checking the weather app first thing in the morning showed it was a cool ZERO degrees. But even that was warmer than what was coming in a few days. Time to get outta town!
Bob played pickleball in the morning (as usual) while I finished up some last minute details at home. We stuck around until the mail was delivered (the last delivery until we return) and then loaded up the car and headed towards Minneapolis.
The temperatures had warmed very little by mid-day. Still very cold on our drive.
Our three boys all live in the Twin Cities area with two of them in the same city just west of the metro area. Convenient when we need a place to stay and a ride to the airport! This time we were dividing the two needs...spending the night with one son and having the other son drive us to our flight. Getting to see ALL of our grand kids was a bonus.
So just where is this adventure taking us? Here is an itinerary and map. The cruise portion of the adventure will be on the Holland America Zaandam...the same ship that we were on for our 23-day cruise through the Panama Canal last year.
Come along and join us for the journey. I will do my best to take good notes, but the actual blog entries won't be posted until after we return. (I know there will be thousands of photos to sort and edit!) Sign up to receive email notices if you don't want to miss any new posts!

| Some snow...much, much more to come by the time we return home. |

Mary - so excited you did this trip! Can’t wait to read the upcoming posts and see your photos,
ReplyDeleteespecially of Antarctica. It will be like reliving my own adventure there last month!
And vice versa!
DeleteI have been waiting for your posts! In a blizzard here...today is a perfect day to start reading. Thank you for taking the time to let us travel vicariously with you!
ReplyDeleteYes...nasty weather here today too but fortunately mostly rain for us this time. We came home to mountains of snow however. February was a good time to escape from Minnesota! I still say I want to be you when I grow up and escape winter to someplace warm and exotic!
